Day 8 – Rome

A Roman Farewell

Grab one last bite at the hotel in Rome with your friends before you say your goodbyes and head on out.

If you’re flying home, your trip leader can help you determine the easiest way to get to the airport. If you’ve got a few days to keep traveling (lucky you), we’ve got plenty of recommendations in store.

Grab a rental car, and keep on exploring what Italy has to offer. Maybe even head north to Tuscany, south to Sardinia, or take a train west toward Barcelona and the South of France. There’s nothing quite like traveling through Europe; if you’ve got the time, make the most of it—the Amalfi Coast and Puglia are epic, but there’s always more to see.

"This was such a special trip and one I will never forget! I had been on a group tour previously with a different tour company and this particular trip exceeded all of my expectations. Every place we visited was beautiful and the activities were so unique. I feel so lucky that we got to have Angelo as our tour leader. He is so much fun, beyond helpful, funny and very good at what he does. He is so passionate about what he does and where he came from, and it makes all the difference on the trip."

"I have done multiple group trips, and this one has by far been the best. Amazing experiences all perfectly packed into a week’s itinerary. If you are a lover of great food and wine, there are not many better places to go. The day spent on boats traveling to and around Capri was easily one of the best days of my traveling life. Do not sleep on this trip. This is my 2nd trip with FTLO and once again they did not disappoint. "

"Yes yes yes! I went on my first trip with FTLO to Puglia and Amalfi Coast and I couldn’t say enough good things about it. The trip was really well organized and we had experiences there was no way we could have done on a trip ourselves. Our trip leader Pilla was the star of the show. Having a trip leader native to the country we were visiting allowed the trip to be so seamless. She was well organized handled any challenges with grace and was able to keep us informed without putting any stress on the group. We couldn’t have had a better trip leader. FTLO keep it up!"

What should I pack for a trip to the Greek Islands?

-

Light, breathable clothing, sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, swimwear, and a hat for sun protection are essentials. A light jacket is also helpful for cooler evenings, especially in spring or fall.

While learning basic Greek phrases can enhance your experience, English is widely spoken, especially in tourist areas. Most signage, menus, and ferry schedules are available in both Greek and English.

What is the best time of year to visit the Greek Islands?

+

-

The Greek Islands are popular from late spring to early autumn, with the best weather typically from May to October. July and August are peak months, offering the hottest weather and the liveliest atmosphere, but late spring and early fall provide a more relaxed experience with fewer crowds.
